The 1937 MG VA Tourer was a refined open-top sports car produced by MG as part of its larger and more luxurious “VA” series, designed to appeal to drivers who wanted MG sporting character with added comfort and practicality. Built on a longer chassis than the contemporary MG TA, the VA Tourer featured elegant flowing wings, a folding windscreen, and seating for four in true touring fashion. Power came from a 1.5-liter overhead-valve inline-four derived from a Morris Motors unit, producing around 54 horsepower and capable of speeds approaching 80 mph—quite respectable for the late 1930s. With its blend of pre-war style, lively performance, and usable touring capability, the MG VA Tourer remains one of the more charming and sophisticated MG models of the pre-war era.
