The 1959 Ed Roth Outlaw, one of the earliest and most iconic custom show cars by Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, was powered by a 1950 Cadillac 331 cubic inch V8 engine. In the Outlaw, it was highly detailed and chromed, serving not just as a powerplant but also as a central visual element in Roth's radical, fiberglass-bodied creation. The Cadillac V8 gave the Outlaw the muscle to match its wild, futuristic looks, helping to define the emerging Kustom Kulture movement of the late 1950s and early ’60s.
