The 1964 Ed Roth "Orbitron" was one of his most experimental and futuristic custom cars, built to resemble a space-age machine straight out of a sci-fi comic. Featuring a fully enclosed front end with three color-tinted headlamps—red, blue, and green—the Orbitron was designed to create a white light beam, though the effect never worked as intended. Its asymmetrical fiberglass body, bubble cockpit, and vibrant metallic paint captured Roth’s signature blend of hot rod artistry and wild imagination. After disappearing for decades and suffering significant neglect, the Orbitron was rediscovered in Mexico in 2007, restored to its former glory, and is now celebrated as one of Roth’s most mysterious and iconic creations.
