The 1970 Lotus 72/5 was one of the most significant chassis in Formula One history, contributing to a revolutionary era in car design. Featuring a wedge-shaped profile, side-mounted radiators, and inboard brakes, the Lotus 72 was a leap forward in aerodynamics and weight distribution. Chassis 72/5 was campaigned by Team Lotus during the 1970 Formula One season, notably driven by Jochen Rindt. It played a key role in Rindt’s dominant mid-season streak, helping him secure five consecutive Grand Prix victories before his tragic fatal accident at Monza. Despite his death, Rindt went on to become F1’s only posthumous World Champion, and the Lotus 72 design continued to compete successfully for years, leaving a lasting legacy in motorsport.
