The 1974 McLaren M23/8 was a key variant of the highly successful M23 Formula One car, designed by Gordon Coppuck. Driven by Emerson Fittipaldi, the M23/8 played a pivotal role in securing McLaren’s first Constructors’ and Drivers’ Championships in 1974. Fittipaldi won three races that season—most notably the Brazilian and Belgian Grands Prix—using different chassis throughout the year, including M23/8. Known for its balance of speed and reliability, the M23 series remained competitive for several seasons, with various iterations continuing to score wins until 1977. The M23/8 helped solidify McLaren’s emergence as a dominant force in Formula One.
