The 1976 Porsche 935/76 was Stuttgart’s first true Group 5 “Silhouette” racer, developed from the 911 Turbo to dominate international endurance competition. Powered by a turbocharged 3.0-liter flat-six producing well over 600 horsepower in race trim, the 935/76 combined brute force with aerodynamic innovation—most notably its widened bodywork and distinctive rear “whale tail.” Campaigned by Martini Racing, the 935 immediately proved formidable, capturing the 1976 World Championship for Makes and launching a dynasty that would make the 935 one of the most successful and recognizable race cars of the era.
